Math, Science Teacher Education Programs at University of Rochester
The University of Rochester's Warner School of Education offers high-quality, innovative graduate teacher preparation programs in mathematics and science that prepare a new generation of reform-minded teachers entering the classrooms. Our new Robert Noyce Scholarship Program provides an affordable way to obtain a master's degree and New York State certification to teach mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, or earth science in grades 7-12. With 30 full scholarships available over three years to highly-qualified STEM majors and professionals considering a career change to teaching, all Noyce scholars will enroll tuition-free into our graduate teacher preparation programs in mathematics or science.
Computer Education at Nazareth College
Nazareth College of Rochester is the only college in Western New York to offer a masters degree in Computer Education. This unique Graduate program leads towards New York State Initial Certification in the area of Educational Technology Specialist. Nazareth College offers the program in both the traditional format and as a hybrid program.
The hybrid program meets intensively for three weeks during two consecutive summers, with courses offered during the fall and spring semesters that meet for two weekends each semester on campus with the remaining time spent learning through the use of online distance education.
Adult Degree Completion Program at Keuka College
Keuka College's adult degree completion program has more than 400 students at eighteen satallite teaching locations. One of the many new program areas being explored as this element of Keuka College's offerings is a new graduate level degree which could lead to teacher certification for individuals who did not pursue an Undergraduate degree in Education. Such a program could be developed with Math and Sciences as areas of emphasis.
Math, Science and Technology in Education at St. John Fisher College
The GMST program prepares preservice math, biology, chemistry and physics candidates for initial certification, as well as preparing preservice math, biology, chemistry and physics candidates for dual certification in their conent and special education. We also offer a Master of Science in MST which along with three years of teaching experience qualifies Childhood and Adolescent Math and Science teachers for professional certification.
Urban Teachers of Tomorrow Prgram at Roberts Wesleyan College
Through the Urban Teachers for Tomorrow Program (UTT), technically trained professionals can change careers and enter the classroom in the Rochester City School District as a paid teacher after only one summer of full-time study at Roberts Wesleyan College. UTT is one of only four programs in New York State offering Transitional B teaching certification. Previous recruitment efforts have focused on middle childhood special education generalist (grades 5-9), as well as biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics at the adolescence level (grades 7-12).
