National Societies

School Science and Mathematics Association

The School Science and Mathematics Association is dedicated to improving instruction at all levels in and between science and mathematics by providing leadership in the field. Its primary work and publications address the needs of all of those involved in the science and mathematics teaching and learning processes.

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics is the public voice of mathematics education, providing vision, leadership, and professional development to support teachers in ensuring mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students.

American Mathematical Society

Founded in 1888 to further mathematical research and scholarship, the American Mathematical Society fulfills its mission through programs and services that promote mathematical research and its uses, strengthen mathematical education, and foster awareness and appreciation of mathematics and its connections to other disciplines and to everyday life.

National Society of Black Engineers

In 1971, two Purdue undergraduate students approached the dean of engineering with the concept of starting the Black Society of Engineers.  They wanted to establish a student organization to help improve the recruitment and retention of black engineering students.  NSBE has since grown from six to about 20,000 members and the annual meeting has blossomed into the Annual National Convention, hosting over 8,000 attendees.  NSBE provides opportunities for success that remain unmatched by any other organization.



National Association of Biology Teachers

The National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) is "the leader in life science education." To date, more than 9,000 educators have joined NABT to share experiences and expertise with colleagues from around the globe; keep up with trends and developments in the field; and grow professionally.

American Chemical Society

The American Chemical Society is a self-governed individual membership organization that consists of more than 160,000 members at all degree levels and in all fields of chemistry. The organization provides a broad range of opportunities for peer interaction and career development, regardless of professional or scientific interests. The programs and activities conducted by ACS today are the products of a tradition of excellence in meeting member needs that dates from the Society's founding in 1876.

American Association for Advancement of Science

The American Association for the Advancement of Science,
"Triple A-S" (AAAS), is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world by serving as an educator, leader, spokesperson and professional association. In addition to organizing membership activities, AAAS publishes the journal Science, as well as many scientific newsletters, books and reports, and spearheads programs that raise the bar of understanding for science worldwide.

National Science Teachers Association

The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), founded in 1944 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is the largest organization in the world committed to promoting excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all. NSTA's membership includes science teachers, science supervisors, administrators, scientists, business and industry representatives, and others involved in and committed to science education.
